AirPods Repair: Common Problems and Checks

A practical AirPods guide for weak sound, charging case faults, pairing issues and battery symptoms.

AirPods faults are often small but disruptive: one side is quiet, the case will not charge or the connection drops during a call. Before assuming the earbuds are finished, check the case, contacts, software and battery symptoms together. A single weak earbud and a case that cannot charge may be two different faults.

Common AirPods symptoms

  • One earbud is much quieter than the other.
  • The charging case does not show the expected light or percentage.
  • Pairing fails, disconnects or switches between devices unexpectedly.
  • The battery lasts for much less time than it used to.
  • Sound becomes distorted after moisture or a physical impact.

Checks worth trying

Clean the speaker mesh and charging contacts gently with a dry, soft tool. Charge the case with a known-good cable, forget and reconnect the AirPods from Bluetooth settings, and check both earbuds separately. Do not use liquid or sharp metal around the mesh and contacts.

When to get an assessment

If the case remains dead, one side stays quiet after cleaning, or the AirPods become hot while charging, stop repeated testing and arrange an inspection. Moisture and battery faults can worsen when the device is kept on charge. Bring the case, both earbuds and the cable used during the problem.

Choose the correct service

Review the AirPods service options and describe whether the issue affects the earbuds, case or both. If you are unsure, book a diagnosis so the likely fault is confirmed before a repair decision.
